Fuh!What a great weekend! It was tiring but I think we truly enjoyed ourselves. Saturday morning after prayers, we packed up our things and drove to my folks’ house in Perak. The intention was to surprise my mom for her birthday. I called my sister, told her about my plan and asked her to pack up her stuffs quickly because I will pick her up at her polytechnic on my way to kampong. Oh before that I called my mom first to check whether they will be at home or not. My mom said my youngest sister was having ‘sekolah ganti’ for raya which means that they will not be going anywhere. After about two and half hours journey we reached my sister’s polytechnic in Sabak Bernam. On the way, we stopped somewhere to buy cake for my mom. About an hour later we reached to my parents’ house. They both were surprised to see us coming and I could see how happy my mom was. Actually my mom’s birthday was on Tuesday 24th. of July. So mase tu, we just called her to wish her happy birthday. During the phone conversation my mom told me that my youngest sister felt sad and cried because all of her brothers and sister were not there during my mom’s birthday and my mom cakap that she was actually digging all the old pictures of me and her angah. Also, everytime she wakes up early in the morning to do her school works, she will always sms her Kakchik just to let her knows that she feels so boring alone at home. Kesian pulak dengan budak kecik tu. Yela, dekat kuarters yang my folks duduk tu memang dah takde orang lain, ade 2 buah rumah je. Budak2 tak ramai. Tu yang my sister boring tu. Kawan sekolah dia semua duduk jauh2, biasela rumah2 kampung ni the distance is quite far between each other. During the phone conversation I could actually sense there is something difference in my mom’s tone. I could sense that she actually also feels the same. My mom with me, dia jarang cakap direct if she has something to ask from me. She usually uses my sister as a camouflage in sending the ‘message’ to me. I don’t know how but normally I could sense it. So after that I talked to my wife that we have to cancel our plan going to my ex-school mate’s wedding in Muar. My wife as always understandingly agreed for the sudden change of plan. So tu yang kitorang balik kampong tu. My sister balik2 sekolah tengok along dia ade, kaklong ade and kakchik dia, senyum je. Then after lunch, we had ‘potong kek’ session for my mom. Me and wife gave my mom a set of pearl necklace and bracelet that we bought when we went to KK last time. I also gave my sisters some presents to them for their good grade in their recent exams. Si kecik tu bila I cakap, “Haa, ni hadiah Jiha sebab periksa dapat no. 3”, berseri2 muka happy sebab dapat hadiah…hehehe..I gave her, her favourite pink colour pearl bracelet. Later that night, I brought them to a newly launched restaurant on the way to Teluk Intan for dinner. The food was great but the service was not efficient enough. Afterall, the most important thing is we all had a great family time together eventhough it was just for a short period of time.
The sponge cake...
