Our 37th. week check-up

Yesterday we went to Ampang Putri for our weekly check up. The doctor did not do the usual sonogram scan, she just checked the heart beat to make sure Adam is ok. During the check up my wife told the doctor about her increase in glucose level and the doctor immediately did a quick glucose test. The result showed that the glucose level was considerably high, 8.8. The doctor said for normal it should less than 7. It came to surprise us that suddenly the doctor said that if my wife is having diabetes then she has no choice but to induce my wife and at that time we were like, what??!!induced??!!We asked the doctor what would happen if we do not want to induce and she said that it will risk the baby as the glucose level getting higher the baby might suddenly stop moving. Ape lagi we both gelabah la. Then the doctor asked, when did the last time my wife had her meal. The doc immediately knew that my wife ponteng puasa by looking at her weight gain when she received the file. My wife had to ponteng because she had been advised by a doctor that we visited last week in Bangi due to infection, dehydration and also high in glucose level. Back to our gynae, we told her that my wife just had her light lunch an hour before our check. So she said the quick test might be inaccurate. She wanted us to do another blood test to confirm the glucose level. If it's still high then , the idea of being induced is the ideal way to not to risk our baby. The re-test should be undertaken at least 2 hours after having meal. While waiting we went for Zuhur prayers and took all the prescribed medications at ground floor counter. Knowing that Adam might be here very soon, we both actually have different kind of feelings. My wife was so panic while I was quite calm and excited. My wife panic because she already had her mind set that Adam will be born at full duration of 40 weeks and all of sudden, the doctor said that she might be induced yesterday. Mana tak gelabah..hehe..Unlike me, I was calm and relax because I could finally meet Adam. My excitement is well overcoming the anxiousness. Memang dah tak sabar sgt nak jumpe Adam, in fact previously I did also suggest to my wife about the induction especially when Adam reached 37 weeks when he is in full term. In other words, it's already safe to give birth. Suddenly yesterday the gynae said about induction, I was quite excited like the Malay saying, "pucuk dicita, ulam mendatang" ke "orang mengantuk yang disorong kan bantal"?Whatever lah..hehe..My wife did ask me yesterday how come I could calm because Adam could be on his way out just around the corner. I said,

"Sebabnya...abg dah excited and tak sabar sangat nak jumpe Adam, jumpe Adam bukannya jumpe hantu..So no need to takutlah..hehe"

So when the time came, we went to the laboratory to do the blood re-test. Very short and quick test. We decided not to wait the result, so we went back. We planned to go to Alamanda while waiting the result and also to do our last shopping before my wife going to the labor room IF the result is positive high glucose level. So in Alamanda we bought a few stuffs for Adam and after that my wife treated herself in a salon while me with nothing much to do, I slept like a log on the couch in the salon..hehe..Suddenly when I was in my dreamland I got a call from the hospital telling that the result was out and it's negative, the glucose level is normal then no need for induction. My reaction?Mix feeling. A little bit of relief and a little bit of disappointment. Same goes to my wife. Relief because my wife is negative of diabetes and disappointed because we would really want to meet Adam. Tapela, it's maybe be for a better cause. Right after we received the result, we went to Damansara Specialist to see abah. Alhamdulillah he's getting better and better. His high fever is already subsided. He is now can talk a little bit and give response. According to his doctor, he is now in stable condition and he might be transfered to normal ward by today. Hopefully he will be getting better soon. Insyaallah..
